Isle of Man sweetheart Samantha Barks was at the
Le Passé premiere at the 66
th Cannes International Film Festival and her chic black ensemble was a world apart from her humble rags
in Les Misérables.
Overnight fame (note from me: not agree with the "overnight" thing but I get it.. altho we know her for so long!)
The British starlet shot to fame last year after appearing in the
film version of the French musical. Her breakthrough performance earned
her a staggering fifteen nominations and six awards.
Judging by her stylish outfit, it looks like she is taking her new
found fame completely in her stride. It would be easy to go OTT at
Cannes because of its glamorous reputation but Samantha has kept it
classy. We just loved her chic chignon and elegant make-up.
The starlet started her career as a singer in 2007 and after
appearing in several shows and making an album she headed to England
where she competed in the BBC talent show "I'd Do Anything" in a bid to
play Nancy in "Oliver" in the West End.
She finished third in the contest but it got her the attention of
some of the biggest names in entertainment and she went on to appear in
numerous productions including "Les Misérables" in the West End.
Following her success in the UK she bagged the lead role in the
Disney TV series "Groove High" which premiered in 2012. She continued to
tread the boards before bagging the role as Éponine again but this time
in the "Les Mis" film.
Her love for performing has taken her to the top. She took a break
from filming her latest movie, "The Christmas Candle", to attend Cannes
and no doubt it won't be the last time we see her there.
Samantha Barks is one to watch! (note from me: you bet!)

Eva Longoria and
Samantha Barks go ultra glam on the red carpet of the
Le Passe premiere during the
2013 Cannes Film Festival held at Palais des Festivals on Friday (May 17) in Cannes, France.
The two ladies were joined by the star of the film
Berenice Bejo and model
Doutzen Kroes.
Earlier in the day,
Berenice and her co-stars hit up a photo call for the film.
